CIS – Software Asset Management flashcards
SERVICENOW · CIS – Software Asset Management (CIS-SAM)
This covers EVERY major definition you'll need to know on the exam. It won't ask you to define these on the exam itself, but understanding what they mean is what's going to make the questions easier.
Certification Summary
The ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist - Software Asset Management exam targets professionals who configure software license compliance and hardware reclamation workflows within a production environment. You are likely an asset manager or system administrator who has personally mapped a discovery source to a software model, as the exam requires you to know exactly how the tables interact when discovery brings in raw data that needs normalization.
You will spend most of your time on Practical Management of Software Compliance and Data Integrity - Attributes and Sources, which together account for 58 percent of the exam. The remaining questions cover Extending SAM, Software Asset Core Overview and Fundamentals, and Operational Integration of Software Processes. Do not overthink the distinction between a software model and a discovery map, but make sure you can calculate license metrics for complex tiered or point-based products like Oracle and Microsoft without creating duplicate records in the asset repository.
