Certification Summary

CompTIA A+ 220-1101 is the baseline ticket for the new hire who needs to prove they can handle a bench repair or a field tech dispatch. You sit this exam when you are trying to land your first role where you physically touch the hardware or answer the phones for a busy MSP.

Hardware, Networking, and Hardware and Network Troubleshooting make up over half the exam. Expect scenarios where a user is yelling that their printer is offline or their machine will not pull an IP address, forcing you to pick the right command or physical check from a list. The test also covers mobile devices and cloud concepts, specifically matching laptop components or identifying virtual machine settings that stop a user from reaching the company server.
